Sustainable and green transition solutions based on low cost, low emissions bio(technologies) for resource recovery from edible oils producing processes - ULYSSES
Supported by a grant of the European Union through the Interreg NEXT MED Programme – Call for green transition projects
Eight partners
ULYSSES promotes the green transition of the vegetable edible oils by transforming waste and wastewater into resources through innovative, green and low cost biotechnologies.
ULySSES aims to contribute to the environmental sustainability at the Mediterranean Basin level, reducing land sources of pollution from vegetable-edible oil-producing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Specifically, the ULySSES approach will result in significant positive impacts comparing to the existing production processes: (i) >90% recovery of high-quality water for reuse, (ii) 30-40% energy savings, (iii) 30-40% reduction of CO2_equivalent emissions and the associated carbon footprint, (iv) production of new value-added compounds capable to substitute the existing chemically-produced twins.
Exploitation, replication and sustainability will be assessed from environmental and socio-economic perspectives (tech transfer, market uptake, regulatory and gender aspects), using a multiactor approach.
